Chanukah which is also known as a festival of lights is very famous all over the globe. It is a Jewish festival and they celebrate it very a tremendous way as the two most famous activities of this festival are exchanging Chanukah gifts and decorating houses. This is one of those festivals which are usually encompassed for a long duration and Chanukah is encompassed for eight days.

There is no such fixed date for this festival but it depends every year but on an average it usually held in the later November or may be in December and also there are a bit chances that because of some reason it get delayed up to the January but in the history it has not been delayed more then this.

As per the Hebrew calendar, the third month of the ecclesiastical calendar is Kislev and it is also known that Kislev is the ninth month of the civil calendar. Each and every Jewish holiday depends on the Hebrew calendar and not on the Gregorian calendar as it is the other non-Jewish holiday celebration. Therefore, there's a smooth fluid across the month of November to January in which anytime this festival can occur, as stated above also.

The true meaning of this holiday Chanukah indicates the dedication. This is the reason that this holi9day has been marked up for the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil which was witnessed after the Maccabees's victory in which they captured and ruled over the Seleucid Empire.

As per the information gathered from the lone notes it is believed that there was enough oil available in the temple to burn the eternal flame but that was only for a single day but that eternal flame burnt from that oil for the eight long days. The tradition and the ritual has been taken from here only as throughout this festival his is the ritual to burn a single flame for the eight long nights and the condition is that it should not be stopped as that is considered something inauspicious.
